An unfortunate accident befell Robert Blanthorne, Newcastle United’s new centre forward, during the progress of the second half of the League match last night between the Tynesiders and Bradford City.
Blanthorne was on the ball, and Fred Farren, the opposing left back, rushed in to tackle him. The players had a severe collision, and Blanthorne fell to the ground with a broken leg. Jack Carr, Newcastle United’s left back, was also injured, and had to retire.
This was Blanthorne’s first game for Newcastle, he having been secured from Grimsby Town. He was reckoned a very clever player.
