The decision of the Inter League Board in fining the Liverpool Club £250 for signing on Robert Pursell, the Queens Park full back, without permission, came as a surprise to followers of the club. It is satisfactory to note that Liverpool have been allowed to obtain Pursell, and as there no transfer fee to pay he should, if he realises expectations, be cheap.
To get a tip top player like Pursell is said to be for a matter of less than £360 is a good bargain. Pursell has, it is said, showed fine form at practice, and his speed has been an eye opener to some who have watched him. There is general regret at the decision of the Inter League Board to suspend Mr. John Fare, an ex-director of the club, from taking part in League football for two years.
It was Mr. Fare who negotiated with Pursell, and it is held that the sentence was unnecessarily severe.
